The club antenna faries have been at work again! There is a well installed 30ft. tower with rotor mounted on the trailer supplied by Schumacher Dugan Construction, Inc. It is located on the east side of the VOA building. Thanks to the faries for their excellent work. Update on Operating Room - The electrical wiring has been completed and inspected. The carpet has been laid, so our next step is to move some of our operating tables back into the room for temporary operating positions. Fabrication of the trailer to hold the tower base is underway. Once that is on site, we can get a station back on the air. WCARA is finalizing design and equipment plans for the revamped operating room in the VOA building. Members are asked to contribute their ideas of equipment, operating modes, layout, and any other parameters you may consider important to creating a first class station. Station Manager Ken Lowrey is compiling the responses. Please send your ideas and comments to him at w8nd@arrl.net. |

The club elected the 2012 officers at the January 9, 2012 meeting. President - Dave Wickelhaus, N8DZ The membership voted to accept the electrical bid from T. C. Electrical Services, Inc. for installation of a sub-panel and outlets in the operating room. The membership also voted to purchase a Rohn 25 tower base. This will be welded to a construction trailer on loan from Schumacher Dugan Construction, Inc., and serve as a temporary/moveable antenna support until we are able to install permanent towers. With the completion of electrical work, installation of the carpet, and availability of the trailer antenna, we will be able to get the WC8VOA station operational. |

The WCARA monthly program meeting is at 7:00pm at the VOA bulding on the second Monday of each month. A technical program dealing with various aspects of amateur radio and communications is presented. Plans are underway to install a temporary operating station as we complete restoration work in the main building. This should be operational in the next few weesk, so check the website for periodic updates. The Voice of America building is located at 8070 Tylersville Rd, in West Chester.
